AC RUTHERFORD is a multidisciplinary artist currently based both in New York City and Michigan, who works under several names, including but not limited to Aaryn, AC the Scamp, Aaron C, Kit, A. Ro, ACR, and River.

With a background in theatre, AC has acted off-Broadway,  in touring musical productions, and in regional houses across the United States. They hold a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Music Theatre Performance (with a focus in directing), from Western Michigan University. River has also studied at the Arts University Bournemouth in England, and has taken workshops with various theatrical institutions, including the Royal Shakespeare Company in Stratford-on-Avon.

Onstage and onscreen as an actor, the Scamp is equally comfortable playing non-binary and third gender people, genderqueer and gender non-conforming people, women, men, animals, mythological and fairytale creatures, as well as other characters across a wide array of identities. They do so with humor and heart.

Up until the pandemic, Aaryn was appearing in The Office! A Musical Parody off-Broadway as everyone's favorite beet farmer, that infamous Pennsylvania Dutchman Dwight K. Schrute. Even now, AC is working on several online, virtual, and new media projects - stay tuned!

As a director, AC has mounted such productions as A Midsummer Night's Dream and The 39 Steps, directed workshops, and directed new media pieces for online distribution. AC is the founding Artistic Director of Mid-Michigan's Pop-Up Shakespeare Project and is a co-creator and co-founder of MilkZone Productions, for which the Scamp has written, acted, produced, and directed.

As a visual artist, AC has been commissioned by the Royal Players Guild, Scents Memory Candles, CARE Therapy LLC, and several other businesses and publications. Kit is proud to have their art featured as tattoos on several friends' and strangers' bodies. AC is currently pursuing several personal art projects, including posting the fruits of 365 days of creativity on Instagram. So far, the Scamp has been focusing largely on illustration (as well as animation and textile work) in this endeavor.

Additionally, AC writes, animates, sings, makes music, and creates video content. Stay tuned for upcoming podcast content as well!
